Children's Mental Health Week (1st - 7th February), by Miss Jones

Date: 31st Jan 2021 @ 7:33pm

From 1-7 February 2021 schools, youth groups, organisations and individuals across the UK will take part in Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.

It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

For Children's Mental Health Week 2021 children (and adults) are encouraged to explore the different ways we can express ourselves, and the creative ways that we can share our feelings, our thoughts and our ideas.

Here are some activities that everyone can enjoy this week and beyond.

Remembrance Day, by Miss Jones

Date: 3rd Nov 2020 @ 5:27pm

Not long ago, windows in many houses in our community featured beautiful, colourful rainbow displays. With Remembrance Day not long away, you may wish to decorate a poppy to display in your window for people to enjoy.

Here is a link from the Poppy Appeal Website where you can download a free poster to print and colour in/decorate.

If you do not have a printer, why not draw and decorate your own poppy for your window?

Robertson's construction poster competition - deadline 12th June, by Mrs Bailey

Date: 7th Jun 2019 @ 1:55pm

Robertson's construction company, who are building the hotel next to Waitrose, are running a poster competition. Winning poster designs will be used on the hoardings which will be around the new build.

All the children have been informed about the poster competition today in assembly and will be bringing home Robertson's construction paper to complete their designs on. The designs should have a construction and/or Peregrine Falcon theme.

Completed designs should be handed in to Waitrose Customer Service Desk or returned to school. The closing date is Wednesday 12th June.

Remember to add your name, age and school on your poster.

Good luck. It would be great if we could see some Oldfield posters on the hoardings.

Robertson's construction are coming to school on Monday to do assemblies for the children.

We look forward to seeing as many families as possible to the Adrift performance this Tuesday evening in school. The performance is pitched at Key Stage 2 children and will take place in the school hall. Families and children are welcome.

Oldfield Primary School, Action Transport Theatre and the Ignite Teaching School Alliance would like to invite you to our community showing of Adrift:

Two children are in a boat. One is rowing. One is fishing. They dream about a land, a beautiful land that’s waiting for them. A safe land. Adrift is a poignant and important play from acclaimed children’s theatre company Action Transport Theatre. Told from the perspective of two children adrift at sea fleeing conflict, it is a celebration of the resilience and imagination of childhood.

Time - 6.30pm on Tuesday 29th January 2019 at Oldfield Primary School.

Doors open at 6.10pm, refreshments available both before and after.

Please join us after the show for a discussion about the play and how we can develop our curriculum to support our children in their learning.

Please RSVP to head@oldfield.cheshire.sch.uk , admin@oldfield.cheshire.sch.uk or call 01244 981772 by Tuesday 22nd January
