Our topic for the Autumn term is: 

From Stone Age to Iron Age


By the end of this unit children should be able to; 

  • understand who were the first humans to live in Britain and how they survived.
  • find out what early humans ate, prepare a Stone Age inspired recipe and investigate how their diet changed over time.
  • understand the period of prehistory and to sequence key events throughout the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.
  • use historical language to compare homes from from the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic times and investigate how housing changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. 
  • understand that early humans were hunter-gatherers and needed to make and use weapons to survive.
  • use different historical sources and evidence to answer historical queries
  • find out about how life changed for early humans and understand the importance of the change from hunter-gatherers to farmers
