PTA Bake Sale
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent PTA bake sale. An incredible £315.69 was raised, which will go towards the PTA contribution to the theatre. Every child at Oldfield will benefit from this.
A special thank you to Catherine Golightly and her team for organising the event and setting everything up. Thank you to everyone who supported the event by baking, sending in cakes and purchasing cakes. It was lovely to see our families together in the hall.

Year 4 have been extremely busy and here are a few photos showing their 'gorilla' research and the beginning of their facts files. We have also been really impressed by the children's detailed and individual approaches to their Maths journaling. In Computing, Year 4 have been creating their own webpages all to do with books they would recommend and on Monday, it will be our first brass lesson!
The children are getting used to their new monitor roles and at the start of the day, the children choose the CARE value we should focus on for the day. We have a Secret Student who is revealed at the end of the day if they have shown this value. Lots of stickers have been given out so far! :)
Inter Schools Rounders Tournament, by Mrs Percival

On Monday a group of Y5 and Y6 children attended the Chester schools Rounders tournament in which over 20 teams took part. Our team won 3 out of their 4 matches and narrowly missed the semi-finals by one point. What we were most impressed with was their team spirit and sportsmanship, they were a real credit to Oldfield.

PTA Bake Sale
Thank you so much to everyone who supported our cake sale by contributing and / or buying cakes at the end of the school day. What an incredibly creative array of designs there were on the theme of Celebration! A total of £290.30 was raised, all of which will go towards PTA funded projects. A special thank you to Catherine Golightly and her team of volunteers for organising and running the event.

After studying the poem 'Windrush Child' by John Agard, we learnt more about the Windrush Generation. We then created our own poems pretending we were going on a big journey away from home.

Year 4 have been making boats in different sizes and out of different materials to see which boats float the best. After Easter we will be making mini rafts for our Year 4 raft race!
Year 4 Roman Bread and an AmaSing workshop!, by Mrs Hover

Today we tasted different types of bread and baked our very own Roman bread dipped in olive oil or honey. Some children even tried olives for the first time!
Yesterday we had a brilliant workshop with the AmaSing team where we learnt more Samba drumming and dancing!

The Year 4 class had a lovely trip which was enjoyed by all! The Year 4 Team adults and the staff at Xplore were really impressed by the children's knowledge, inquisitive nature and behaviour :)
