The Big Sunflower

The Big Sunflower

Look out for a small envelope in the children's book bags - inside you will find a sunflower seed which we are encouring you to plant at home as part of the Big Sunflower Project. This project aims to raise awareness of the rare neuromuscular conditions centronuclear and myotubular myopathy by growing sunflowers.

The Information Point for Centronuclear and Myotubular Myopathy have given us some sunflower seeds which we are distributing out to the children in school. They hope that their distribution of the seeds will raise awareness of centronuclear and myotubular myopathy as well as allowing participants the opportunity to see the sunflowers being grown by others taking part in the project.

The charity have asked that in return we send them some photographs of the seeds being planted, photographs of the flowers as they grow and / or when they have flowered. Please send your photographs in to school before the middle of July (13th) and we will send them collectively to Great Boughton Council who are coordinating this event. If you would like more information on the project please see the project website: https://thebigsunflowerproject.wordpress.com/donate/
