People's Learning Trust - Everton College winners, by Mr Brown

Our football team were the winners of the first People’s Learning Trust Football event at the Everton College campus at Vauxhalls in Ellesmere Port.
The team won their group winning 2 and drawing 2 games, beating our link school from Swansea, Clwyd Primary in the semi-finals and going on to beat Meadow Primary in the final. The children were a credit to the school and made me proud not just for winning but for the way they played each game and supported each other.
Thank you so much to Jess, Craig and Joanne for the help with transport and our travelling supporters for their encouragement.

We had a PSHE lesson about recycling so a very kind parent who works at Wrexham recycling centre came to give us a talk about recycling and what happens at the centre. This was so interesting! ♻️
Science Experiment Spring 1, by Miss Doyle

Our science topic this term has been all about our digestive system and our teeth. We used egg shells to complete an experiment because the shell is quite similar to the enamel in our teeth. We placed the eggs into containers of milk, water, coffee, juice and tea. We left them for a week to see the results. Some of them were yucky and smelly 🦷 🧪

We are so proud of the children and all their hard work that they put into their Christmas Performance. From singing their hearts out to learning lines and even singing solos. What a brilliant team!

Throughout the year we will participate in sports competitions.
Our Y5/6 team took part in a tournament organised by the Liverpool FC Foundation.
In the English Schools under 11 football competition, we were unlucky to lose 1-0 to Upton Heath in a very close semi-final.

We have started our new topic of Multiplication. We have really enjoyed getting a deeper understanding of our explore tasks by using our manipulatives to help us make our groups. Maths has been very fun this week😎

Our classroom was transformed into a circus. Circus music was playing as we entered, with popcorn to eat, carnival games to play and a Photo Booth station to snap some pictures📸. This was a hook lesson to help us predict what our new English text was going to be🎪🎡🤡

A massive thank you James from Chester Police for coming to see us and explain how important the Police services are!🚓 This helped us with our Geography topic which was all about how people earn a living and the importance of jobs🧑🏼✈️ we had soooo much fun taking our finger prints, sitting in the police car, trying on a police hat and jacket and being handcuffed!

Our first half term back to school consisted of a LOT of learning! Here are some examples of all the amazing learning we did in the Autum 1 term. In Maths, we were learning all about Place Value and we wanted to show you some examples of our maths explore tasks which we work together to complete. In Art, we were learning about the French artist Georges Seurat who created Pointilism (dotting art). In Science, we were learning about Living Things so we went on a mini beast hunt around school to see what we could find! In Computing we were learning about the Internet and had a go at creating some sounds on Chromelab, which we really enjoyed🎉🎧🎼

Wowww!! Our geography topic in Year 4 this term has been all about how people earn a living by working and all the different types of jobs in the world. Luckily, year 4 got to have first hand experience being chefs for the morning in Pizza Express, making pizzas🍕 We had so much fun learning how to make a pizza, but mostly importantly the taste of them after😋 What an amazing morning and experience for our team!!😎 Lots of smiles😁😁

A massive thank you to Cheshire Fire and Rescue service for coming to see our Year 4 students. They explained why the Fire and Rescue service are so important and what they do day to day. This relates to our geography topic on how people earn a living by working. What a wonderful time we had🚒😃
Y4 Forest Schools, by Mr Brown

We had a great day with Mr Hadfield in Forest Schools. We found out about habitats, how living things need water, shelter and food. We studied skulls to see which species were herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
We found bugs and built bug hotels for them.

In Spring 2 Year 4 completed sooo much learning! You can see by some photos we really enjoyed predicting our new English text with our props. We learned all about Electrictiy in Science and how to conduct circuits. We created some light up signs with our new skills and we even created a human circuit with a switch🔌😎 lastly we had our Brass end of term performance with Music For Life🎺🎷
