Thank you for a very interesting afternoon and for giving up time on your precious day off to come and talk to us :)
PC Francis and PC Harrison came to visit Year 1, by Mrs Harrison
Date: 4th May 2017 @ 12:26pm
As part of our 'People who help us' topic, Year 1 had PC Francis and PC Harrison come to visit us in a police car!
The class challenged them both with their fantastic questions...
"What do you do?" "How do you help?" Freya
"How long have you been a police officer?" Evie
"How many cases have you solved?" Alfie
"What mysteries do you solve?" Felix
As you can see from the photographs, they tried on the protection vests and hats. The vests were very heavy!
We were very lucky, we even had a look inside a police car and used the special ink to do our own finger prints.
A BIG thank you to Mr Francis and Mr Harrison for your time and bringing some fantastic resources for us to try on and use.
We can not wait for Mr Weeks and Mrs Pierce to visit in the next couple of weeks.
How to trap an evil pea!, by Mrs Harrison
Date: 3rd May 2017 @ 5:15pm
Have you ever heard of an evil pea?
Year 1 have been reading the text 'Supertato' in literacy. We found that to catch an evil pea we require jelly.
On Tuesday, some magical potion appeared in the classroom. The children looked at it and smelt it, guessing what the liquid could be. Blackcurrent juice? Strawberry juice? Jelly juice?
The class then predicted how long it would take for the jelly to set in the fridge. 1 minute? 1 hour? 1 day?
In groups, the children then squashed the evil peas into the jelly to capture them!
We look forward to writing our instruction texts about 'How to trap an evil pea!'

Well done to the Year 6 boys football team who came runners up in their football league this year. The boys qualified for the Chester Primaryship Champions Finals which were held at the Liverpool Football Academy today. It was a brilliant day and the boys did Oldfield proud. They came 3rd in their group stage with 1 WIN, 2 DRAWS and 1 LOSS. The boys did not come away empty handed. Our captain, Max, was handed our runners up trophy for the league.
The boys should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved this year. As always, the boys represented the school wonderfully and it was a pleasure to take them to Liverpool.

Ready Steady Learn in FS2, by Mrs Bailey
Date: 21st Apr 2017 @ 8:06am
Today we all had training in Ready Steady Learn. We practiced calming our bodies down after a busy lunch time.
Top tips from Audrey - the trainer and expert!
- Keep your back straight.
- Your shoulders soft.
- Your eyes soft.
- Your heart soft.
- Breathe in gently, lifting the air up with your hands.
- Breathe out gently pushing the air down with your hands.
- Think of your favourite colour. Imagine you can see it.
- Imagine you can smell flowers in the garden.
- Imagine tasting your favourite fruit.
- Put your hands on your knees and feel the material under your fingers.
The children in FS2 responded really well to this. They told us that when they were doing Ready Steady Learn they felt safe, calm, brave, happy.

Year 4 Poetry, by Mrs Hover
Date: 12th Apr 2017 @ 7:19pm
Year 4's poetry inspired by the list poem, 'I come from...' by Robert Seatter
I come from…
(verses taken from some of the children’s poems)
I come from Chester, a busy city
Full of people
Friends and foes
Dotted around like landmarks on a map
Each leading different lives in different way
I come from the smell of cookies baking
The sweet scent wafting through the kitchen door
As the cookies turn golden and crisp
While the oven heats up
I come from the joy of finishing an amazing book
Silently reading somewhere in a corner
As the words come to life
And I get lost in worlds of my own…
I come from Florida full of adventure and magic
Where all your dreams come true
A swimming pool for a back garden
A theme park
Two water parks
Ice cream for breakfast…
Roller coasters everyday
Waves so powerful, they could knock you out
I come from part Scottish and part English
And wearing my first kilt at a wedding…
I come from a loving, fantastic family
Who love getting muddy and dirty
Going for walks with the dog
And getting sprayed by him
I come from hot holidays in Spain
And yummy, sugary doughnuts on the beach
I come from water fights with my sisters
And the smell of the roast dinner on Christmas Eve
I come from Trick or Treating around the streets on Halloween
And getting up early on Easter morning
Looking around for Easter eggs
I come from giggling and kindness
And spending time with my family
On special occasions
I come from popcorn and the cinema
Candy floss, the colour of the rainbow
Melting in my mouth…
I come from the library
And books scattered in a messy pile
Beside my desk
