Y2 Tudor houses, by Mrs Harrison

Thank you so much to our wonderful Year 2 parents for supporting the children in their homework to make a model of a Tudor house. The houses were incredible and it was wonderful to see the amount of effort and creativity that had gone into them!
we used them to re-enact the fire in the classroom which was lots of fun!

What a busy week we have had in Year 2. Once our play was complete we also had time to squeeze in a visit to the Nantwich Museum to learn more about The Great Fire of Nantwich.
The children were a credit to our school and had a wonderful day being history detectives and learning lots about the fire.

It was lovely to see our hall so full with happy cake buyers! It was an amazing display of wonderful festive themed creations. Thank you to everyone who made and provided cakes and to all who came to buy them. Thanks go to the PTA for organising the event. The total amount made will be shared with you soon.

Year 2 enjoyed our visit from Cheshire Fire Brigade today. We had a tour of the fire engine and had a look at the fire fighting equipment used today, comparing this to what would have been used in 1666 during the Great Fire of London 🔥.

We have been studying the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and decided to have a go at some sculpture using clay. Here are our amazing pumpkins. The next job will be to paint and decorate them. We all has great fun doing this.

We made some fabulous big maps of our wonderful city of Chester. We used lots of Chester landmarks and maps of the city to help us to make our own. Don't they look great!

Today year 2 have been learning about our 'Digital 5 a Day'.
We learnt about the importance of taking part in a variety of activities to keep our brains working well and how to use IT in different ways to give us this variety as well as being mindful of our time spent using IT.
We then had a go at some activities to practise this. We all had a great afternoon.

Year 3 have had a very busy start to the term! They have been doing lots of writing activities linked to their text, 'Seal Surfer' including these animal riddles. In Art we have been sketching natural objects whilst learning about William Morris. We even had a go at creating William Morris designs using the PaintZ programme to compare!
