Year 5 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed their recent workshop delivered by the finance team at Lloyds Bank.
The children learnt key information and skills that will help them throughout life, along with designing their own banks and comic strips about banking safely online.
EPC Gymnastics Visit, by Miss Young

Year 6 had the pleasure of visiting Mr Bell's gymnastics club- EPC Gymnastics.
We used all the expert equipment and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to display our gymnastic progress and attainment at the specialist centre.

Year 6 explained how rangoli patterns are created to celebrate Diwali in Hinduism. They looked at repeated patterns, continuous lines and symmetry.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Spar, Vicars Cross who generously gave up their own time to work on our garden project. Their time, enthusiasm and commitment to the project is very much appreciated. Thank you to Spar and to the PTA for funding the materials to enhance this area which were supplied by Walkers Garden Centre and Howarth Timber and Building Supplies.
Beatbox Workshop, by Miss Young

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed the PTA funded Beatbox workshop. We had a fun packed day experimenting with our own voice as we learnt how to Beatbox. All the children were engaged in the workshop and by the end of the session had all written their own rap.

Andy Birch joined us for a 2 day Graffiti workshop. In our initial session, we practised our graffiti writing before blending colours using paint pens.

Year 5 and 6 received a visit from some of the Cheshire Phoenix players for a 'Health Roadshow'.
The worked across stations learning basketball drills, ways to stay healthy through our food choices and the hazardous effects of smoking. We look forward to the coaching session coming up.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent Valentine themed bake sale in anyway. As always, this was well supported and there was an impressive array of cakes. A total of £322.62 was raised to go towards PTA funds.

Sports Ambassador and Playground Leader Training, by Miss Young

Mr Mulligan and Mrs Gilmore from CEDP spent an afternoon with Year 6 training and preparing them to uphold the role of playground leaders for our KS1 children. Emma, Emily, Jack W and Christian were successful in their application for Sports Ambassadors and will start work on raising the profile of sport thorughout school.

Year 6 have spent their afternoon's designing and making shadow puppets, in preparation for a show to their Reception buddies.
The performances were a real success and the Reception children also had a turn in projecting the shadows onto the material and retelling the traditional tales picked by Year 6.

PTA Bake Sale
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent PTA bake sale. An incredible £315.69 was raised, which will go towards the PTA contribution to the theatre. Every child at Oldfield will benefit from this.
A special thank you to Catherine Golightly and her team for organising the event and setting everything up. Thank you to everyone who supported the event by baking, sending in cakes and purchasing cakes. It was lovely to see our families together in the hall.
Football V Chester Blue Coat, by Mr Brown

We played our first league match of the season away at Chester Blur Coat winning 3-1 with goals from Ted, Chris and Reuben. The whole team played well and we look forward to our next match.
Thank you to our families who were able to help with transport and support.
Cherry Grove, Upton Mill View, Upton Heath and JH Godwin are also in our league. We will share the future results.
Stockport Air Raid Shelters Trip, by Miss Young

Year 6 visited Stockport Air Raid Shelters and Museum to explore our WW2 History topic further. We spent the whole day in characters as an evacuee.

Reception and Year 6 enjoyed a fun packed afternoon of Forest School.
We made dens for our very own characters, giving them comfy beds and some even had jacuzzis! Then we engaged with a scavenger hunt before toasting some marshmallows- delicious!

Year 6 linked Forest School with our Guided Reading text 'The Explorer' to consider what makes a good shelter? And what skills would we need to survive in the wilderness.
