This display showcases Year 4's mythical sea creature ink drawings and part of their legend writing. The children chose the part of the story they liked best - Beginning, Build-up, Problem, Resolution or Ending. All of the children's work has also been displayed in a Class Book so they can enjoy each other's creations.

The Water Horse Day
Today, Year 4 enjoyed watching 'The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep' with their snacks and cuddly toys. They also created ink drawings of their own mythical creatures and on Monday, we will hold a 'World Meeting' to discuss whether the Loch Ness monster is real based on different evidence.

Miss Jones and Mrs Hover had a lovely morning working with some Yr 3 and Yr 4 children from Oldfield and local schools on a writing course run by The Literacy Company. After reading and exploring Katie May Green’s beautiful book ‘Seen and not heard’, the children created their own poems. Ideas will then be shared with the rest of Year 3 and Year 4 in future poetry lessons.

Isle of Ulva
The Ferryman has spotted something unusual on the shoreline after a big storm - he asks if we can help him to describe the object and predict what this object could be. A few other islanders have likened the object to the legend of the kelpie.

Today, we watched a short film about the remote Isle of Ulva. We imagined that this was our location for our Year 4 residential! In small groups, we created our own maps of the island, plotting key features and then we recorded all our questions about our week's residential on the island.

Please look at our video called, ‘Would it be OK…?’ about the plight of Sumatran Tigers. They are critically endangered and we wanted to educate people so this beautiful animal doesn’t become extinct. We worked in pairs thinking about the ‘voice’ of the tiger and then created powerful questions based upon their threats.
