My Happy Mind and Zones of Regulation in Reception, by Mrs Bailey

Date: 14th May 2024 @ 6:21pm

Congratulations to our Reception children who all recieved their Relate certificates today as we finished our Relate module this afternoon. This module focused on friendship, particularly on being a good friend. We learnt about active listening, particulalry focusing on looking, nodding / acknowledging and asking questions.

This week we are practicing doing kind acts for others as our tool for Zones of Regulation. This afternoon we all wrote a kind note to someone else. Some children wrote to their parents or family members, some to other children in their class, some to other children in school and some to staff. We were very busy!

Counting Colours - Zones of Regulation strategy, by Mrs Bailey

Date: 27th Apr 2024 @ 3:02pm

Reception and Year 1 children have both been practicing Counting Colours as their Zones of Regulation strategy this week.

This strategy can be done anywhere and at any time! The idea is that you stop, think of a colour, look around wherever you are, and see if you can find things that have that colour on them. You might want to have a focus e.g. Can you find 10 things that have yellow on them?

This strategy can be helpful if you are feeling a bit worried, upset about something, if you are feeling lonely and also if you feel you have too many thoughts going on in your head.

Children's Mental Health Week (1st - 7th February), by Miss Jones

Date: 31st Jan 2021 @ 7:33pm

From 1-7 February 2021 schools, youth groups, organisations and individuals across the UK will take part in Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.

It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

For Children's Mental Health Week 2021 children (and adults) are encouraged to explore the different ways we can express ourselves, and the creative ways that we can share our feelings, our thoughts and our ideas.

Here are some activities that everyone can enjoy this week and beyond.

Remembrance Day, by Miss Jones

Date: 3rd Nov 2020 @ 5:27pm

Not long ago, windows in many houses in our community featured beautiful, colourful rainbow displays. With Remembrance Day not long away, you may wish to decorate a poppy to display in your window for people to enjoy.

Here is a link from the Poppy Appeal Website where you can download a free poster to print and colour in/decorate.

If you do not have a printer, why not draw and decorate your own poppy for your window?

Robertson's construction company, who are building the hotel next to Waitrose, are running a poster competition. Winning poster designs will be used on the hoardings which will be around the new build.

All the children have been informed about the poster competition today in assembly and will be bringing home Robertson's construction paper to complete their designs on. The designs should have a construction and/or Peregrine Falcon theme.

Completed designs should be handed in to Waitrose Customer Service Desk or returned to school. The closing date is Wednesday 12th June.
