Year 2 Trip to Underwater Street Imagine That!, by Mrs Harrison
Date: 21st Sep 2017 @ 4:16pm
Year 2 had a fantastic time at 'Underwater Street Imagine That!' in Liverpool today.
They explored the imagination village where we were able to become and play different roles in restaurants, hair salons, vets, on and back stage, construction sites and many more!
The class continued to develop their scientific investigation skills by exploring and playing with light, magnets, sounds, water and sand. In the science workshops and shows the children created bath bombs, slime, gigantic bubbles, erupting volcanoes and exploding rockets!
The children used their creative skills to make character bags, fridge magnets and even helped decorate a real life car!
Year 2 had a fantastic day and are looking forward to sharing all their creations at home.
A BIG thank you to our parent helpers. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
There were over 150 photographs taken so if your child is not on one, please let me know.

We made use of our new playground markings, developing hopscotch games. We also used origarmi to create aeroplanes and had great fun seeing how successful they were at flying. They worked with children developing cutting skills and learnt how to play Ninjargos with a group of children!
We look forward to welcoming them back to Oldfield in a couple of weeks.

We also really enjoyed listening to our Year 4 children celebrating their recent Roman topic with a fabulous Roman rap.
A special mention must go to Robert who mesmerised the whole school when he played a solo guitar piece.
James will continue to teach guitar tuition next year. He will also be running an after-school music club. More information will be given out in September.

Year 4 Roman Bread!, by Mrs Hover
Date: 10th Jul 2017 @ 8:20pm
D&T Day
Year 4 had great fun today researching different types of bread, tasting bread, watching film clips about the different ingredients and the history of bread and most importantly, making bread!
Some of the children dipped their bread in olive oil like the Romans and some were brave enough to try 'Mixtura cum caseo', a dip with leek, lettuce, rocket, coriander, mint, white wine vinegar, parmesan and feta cheese and olive oil! A few children even liked it!!
We also had a 'Food Hygiene' quiz and we had three winning teams, 'The Quirky Croissants', 'Five Plaited Loaf' and 'The Baking Bros'! The other two teams were only one point behind.
Well done Year 4!
