Year 3's Forest School

Class: Year 3 Year: 2026 - 2027

We had a lovely, sunny afternoon at Forest School yesterday! 😊

To link with both our Science topic, Rocks and Soils, and our Geography topic, Rainforests, Mr Hadfield taught us all about the four main components of soil: water, organic matter, ground-down rocks and air. He also explained why worms are so important for maintaining healthy soil.

We then collected some good soil samples and carefully examined them, looking closely at the different components.

Mr Hadfield went on to teach us about the different layers of the forest. Afterwards, we created our very own wormeries, making sure our worms had plenty of food to eat and were well protected from predators.
