Year 2 enjoyed our visit from Cheshire Fire Brigade today. We had a tour of the fire engine and had a look at the fire fighting equipment used today, comparing this to what would have been used in 1666 during the Great Fire of London 🔥.

We have been studying the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and decided to have a go at some sculpture using clay. Here are our amazing pumpkins. The next job will be to paint and decorate them. We all has great fun doing this.

We made some fabulous big maps of our wonderful city of Chester. We used lots of Chester landmarks and maps of the city to help us to make our own. Don't they look great!

Today year 2 have been learning about our 'Digital 5 a Day'.
We learnt about the importance of taking part in a variety of activities to keep our brains working well and how to use IT in different ways to give us this variety as well as being mindful of our time spent using IT.
We then had a go at some activities to practise this. We all had a great afternoon.

Year 3 have had a very busy start to the term! They have been doing lots of writing activities linked to their text, 'Seal Surfer' including these animal riddles. In Art we have been sketching natural objects whilst learning about William Morris. We even had a go at creating William Morris designs using the PaintZ programme to compare!

Y4 Burwardsley Residential 2025, by Mr Brown

We have had a great first day at Burwardsley.
After lunch we did pond dipping where we found lots of insects and we even found a very rare great crested newt. Later in the afternoon we did orienteering around the grounds. For tea we had pasta bolognaise or fish and chips with chocolate cake, jelly and ice cream. After tea we had a campfire, with songs and marshmallows. We had a play building dens, secret hidouts and eben played rounders.

The children had a fantastic afternoon and it was so lovely to see them playing board games, making Lego models and being creative with paper! We also had a group picture with Miss Green before her last day on Friday ☺️

We are so proud of all the children who auditioned for Oldfield's Got Talent this afternoon. They were all stars and we enjoyed watching all their performances. A huge well done!

Last night, we ate delicious s'mores and sang around the campfire. We've had an amazing day today with the low ropes and archery and everyone had a go at the big zip wire! It was a super first residential! :)

The children have had a busy time exploring repeating patterns.
We also had a special guest, Basil, Lucas's pet snake, who came to came to visit us. We enjoyed watching him slither over our carpet and feeling his scales and some of us liked feeling him around our neck!
